Artist Bio

Jahan Nostra is a talented MC from Stamford, CT and Mount Vernon, NY. In his early childhood, Jahan lived in Mount Vernon, NY – hometown to Pete RockHeavy D and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Jahan’s musically talented neighbors inspired him to begin rhyming at 9 years old. After moving to the inner-city of Stamford, CT, Jahan continued to develop his lyrical talent and at age 13, he was signed to the label, BMX Entertainment in Brooklyn. 

 

In high school, Jahan showcased his talent on the independent scene, recording freestyles on mixtapes. He and his partner Kyro also recorded tracks with Producer Raydar Ellis (who later worked under Dr. Dre  at Aftermath).


After high school, Jahan moved to North Carolina to study Journalism. During college, Jahan worked at Duke University Radio with 9th Wonder who introduced him to Big Pooh and Phonte. During these years - the early stages of Little Brother - Jahan even had to face-off in a battle with Phonte at the famed Cat’s Cradle.

 

Since 2012, Jahan Nostra has released 3 full length albums: Bedtime Street Album (2012); Sleepwalking - produced by Poppa Pill and featuring Hakim Green (of Channel Live) and ESP (2016) - mastered by the now Grammy Award-Winning Engineer, Daddy Kev - with features from the legendary Brooklyn Hip Hop duo, Smif-N-Wessun and Tone TrumpJahan Nostra released several singles in 2021, including "Dedication" feat. Tahmell & REKS [Prod. Buda Bap Beats].  He is currently working on Violet Skies-a 3-part EP Series set for release in 2022.  

 

Jahan Nostra has been featured in Hip Hop DX, Huff Post, and he has been interviewed by the legendary Doctor Dre (of Yo! MTV Raps).  Nostra has performed in cities across the US and Canada, and he has opened for Smif-N-Wessun, Das EFX, J. Cole, Maestro Fresh-Wes, and in September of 2021 Jahan Nostra opened for Ludacris at Stamford Downtown's Alive at 5 Concert Sponsored by NBC Universal. Jahan Nostra has won several awards for his work, including Best Music Video at the 2019 Hip Hop Film Festival (New York) and Best Male Artist at the 2019 Urban Mediamakers Festival (Atlanta).


With respect to his creative influences, Jahan credits Tupac Shakur as an inspiration for “his ability to paint pictures with great emotion and put poetry in motion while still being true to himself.” Taking his craft seriously, Jahan has an artist statement that he lives by: “To uplift for the future, reflect reality and prove that I’m the illest.”
